The Gimp is a truly remarkable program. When first run it seems incomplete. This is because of the extensive use of the right mouse button - press this for all options and extra windows, etc. Originally written for UNIX and Linux, it was ported to Windows by Tor Lillqvist. GIMP stands for Gnu Image Manipulation Program.
The Gimp is a fully fledged program which can accomplish almost all the modifying tricks of Photoshop but, of interest here, it is also capabable of generating a myriad of wonderful computer graphics - see a small sample below.
