There are an increasing number of music player programs and screen savers that generate patterns which vary in time to the beat and/or frequency of the music. The graphics generated can be anything from simple VU meters, through oscilloscope types to beautiful patterns. I think the Kinemorphic and Psychedelic screensavers, both from Synthesoft, produce the best graphics so they get galleries of their own. They can also be set up by the user to make patterns that no-one has ever seen before! More details in Software used.
